According to WUFT, the Florida Department of Health has relased information saying the mosquito population in Florida is at a six year high. The species is known to carry the deadly West Nile Virus and others.
“Because of this week’s rain, we have standing water and that of course has flooded places where mosquito eggs are laid, So, they’re going to hatch and usually after about 10 days is when you see a huge emergence of mosquitoes after the recent rains,” said Paul Koehler of the University of Florida in the WUFT story.
